Make a donation

Supporting the library strengthens our community by opening doors to learning and self-improvement. Contributions, whether in the form of books, digital resources, or monetary gifts, help cultivate literacy, spark curiosity, and guarantee that everyone has access to valuable information, creating a more informed and connected society.

Cash Donations

Cash and check donations are gladly accepted.

Donations can be made in person at the library’s front desk.

Gifts can also be mailed to: 209 E. Center Street Madison, SD 57042.

Material Donations

The Library welcomes gifts and donations, which enrich its collection and are greatly appreciated.

The Library decides whether a gift can be added to its collection. Acceptance is not guaranteed.

Materials may not be used if they are:

  • Duplicates of items already in the collection
  • Outdated without historical value
  • In poor physical condition that makes processing costly

All gifts undergo the same selection process as purchased materials. They are not considered part of the collection until formally integrated.

The Library reserves the right to:

  • Use, donate, sell, or discard gifts based on condition and usefulness
  • Refuse any donation

Conditional gifts generally require Library Board approval and may be declined if they:

  • Require special housing
  • Prevent integration into the general collection
