Cash Donations

  • Cash and check donations are gladly accepted.

  • Donations can be made in person at the library’s front desk.

  • Gifts can also be mailed to: 209 E. Center Street Madison, SD 57042.

Material Donations

  • The Library welcomes gifts and donations, which enrich its collection and are greatly appreciated.
  • The Library decides whether a gift can be added to its collection. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
  • Materials may not be used if they are:
    • Duplicates of items already in the collection
    • Outdated without historical value
    • In poor physical condition that makes processing costly
  • All gifts undergo the same selection process as purchased materials. They are not considered part of the collection until formally integrated.
  • The Library reserves the right to:
    • Use, donate, sell, or discard gifts based on condition and usefulness
    • Refuse any donation
  • Conditional gifts generally require Library Board approval and may be declined if they:
    • Require special housing
    • Prevent integration into the general collection
