Neighborhood Narratives is an audio storytelling project from the Madison Public Library, created in collaboration with local businesses and community members. The project features short, sixty-second stories shared by residents, offering a unique glimpse into the lives and experiences of your neighbors.
These stories are accessible through QR codes displayed at participating local businesses. Keep an eye out, scan a code, and discover the stories of the people around you!
Interview Information
Preparing for the interview
The stories we are sharing with the public are intended to be less than a minute long. Keep this in mind when preparing for an interview. The interviewer will ask you three questions, but only one of your answers will be chosen to share with the public.
Interview process
Before you start the interview, you will need to:
- Sign a release form
- Provide the library with a picture of yourself to accompany your short story
- Answer five introductory questions:
- What’s your name?
- What’s your job/how do you spend your time?
- What’s your hometown?
- Why did you (or your family) move to Madison?
- What’s your age?
During the interview, you will:
- Provide a brief introduction by answering the five introductory questions listed above
- Answer three questions
- The participant can choose these questions or select from the list provided by the library. Only one of these answers will be shared publicly.
- Once the participant has answered three questions and signed the consent form, the interview is complete.
